Cllr Steve Siddons, Leader of the Labour Group said, “The vote of no confidence debate today predictably turned into a fiasco as the UKIP Leader had not done his homework and subsequently lost the vote.
However the debate has not gone away and a number of key concerns are being masked. By allowing the Leader of the Council to bully the Mayor into closing down both the meeting and the debate, the Council did nothing to allay the disquiet of residents.
This vote changes nothing in the minds of the public or the town councils of Whitby and Filey. The Leader and Cabinet have once again displayed arrogance in the way they do business. There are many major issues that continue to concern residents and The Labour Group will continue to press for answers.”
