Labour Responds to Announcement on the North Bay Waterpark

Responding to the decision by the Leader of Scarborough Borough Council to proceed with the North Bay Waterpark, Councillor Steve Siddons, Labour Group spokesperson on Finance and Regeneration, said:

“Whilst we are fully behind the principle of a Waterpark for the North Bay; the plan as it currently stands carries an unacceptable level of risk. It is disappointing that the viability of this project has not been fully tested, meaning that the taxpayers of Scarborough and Whitby may be left to foot the bill. More

Tony RandersonI am currently in the process of delivering some 2,400 Newsletters to every household in Eastfield. The main subject of this Newsletter is the Eastfield Pride Competition that I have initiated. This competition is to find the Most Improved Street in Eastfield.

I am doing this because there are parts of the Eastfield Estate that require some TLC. The idea is to get residents involved by forming a small committee to run this project, for residents who wish their street to be involved and to put pride back into their environment! More

Planning for a better Borough

Scarborough Borough Council’s Labour group of councillors has agreed to start work on a set of policies to take to the public in next year’s borough council elections. The first stage of drawing up a manifesto will involve a six month consultation period ending after the Labour Party conference in September. Labour councillors are seeking the views of local communities, businesses, and voluntary groups as well as party members and others in drawing up their plans. They aim to be as inclusive as possible. Yorkshire’s Labour MEP welcomes recent EU funding boost for Scarborough manufacturer, Bluebird Vehicles.

Linda McAvan MEP has hailed a £600,000 cash injection in a local Scarborough business as a vote of confidence in the town’s manufacturing sector.

Scarborough-based Bluebird Vehicles, which produces accessible minibuses, earlier this month received a funding increase from Finance Yorkshire to help it continue to compete as the UK’s leading producer of this type of vehicle. More
